I am exceedingly proud to serve as a producer on ROLEPLAY, a documentary that follows a group of Tulane students as they confront sexual violence and discrimination on their campus through a transformative theater process. Following a highly successful world premiere at SXSW, where the film was hailed as “one of the best docs I’ve seen so far this year" by Brian Tallerico of rogerebert.com, ROLEPLAY screened at the Yale Student Film Festival, as well as at the National Alliance of Acting Teachers congress at Juilliard and the ATHE Conference in Atlanta. This fall, we are thrilled to be making our hometown debut at the New Orleans Film Festival in October, our international premiere at the American Film Festival in Poland, as well as showings at Heartland Film Festival in Indianapolis, and a special True/False screening with Ragtag Cinema and the Murray Center at University of Missouri. Stay tuned for more exciting festival news!
As a reviewer Ashely Smith recently noted, “The Tulane University students created and performed an incredibly groundbreaking theatrical production... Access to these brilliant young minds and what they’ve accomplished got to me on a cellular level.” Not only does ROLEPLAY provide an entry point for difficult conversations about campus culture, I firmly believe the film will inspire students across the country to be leaders in their own campus communities, providing a template for students to use activism, advocacy, and artistry to change their cultures from within. We’ve got early impact screenings coming up this Fall at Occidental, UNCSA, Tulane, and UNO. Please reach out if you are interested in screening the film on your campus!
